The Herstmonceux Village
Information Centre on is proud
to have been chosen to receive a
grant from East Sussex County
Council to extend its
information communications
technology.
With the grant, the Centre
has now installed
- New PCs and broadband
internet
connection, available to
both residents and
visitors.
- A new colour
printer-scanner-copier for
public use.
This enables the Centre to
extend the Information Service
which it currently offers to the
local community and visitors.
The Centre is
now planning training
facilities, particularly
for young people in the area, to
help them to learn and use
information and communication
technology skills to find
employment.
The new facilities mean that you
can prepare your own documents
on a PC and print them out or
send them attached to
your emails, etc. You can also
browse and download information
from the internet and print it
out. There will be a small
charge for the use of the PCs
and internet access as well as
for printing and copying, but
being a Registered Charity, the
Centre's charging rate can be
less than those made by
commercial organisations.
Herstmonceux Village Information
Centre is also a BT Open Zone
Hotspot in East Sussex for
wireless internet
connection. Anyone with a "wi-fi"
laptop within the vicinity of
the Centre on Gardner Street can
use the Hotspot to access the
internet. A Public Information
Point (PiP) is already available
in the Centre.
In the near future the grant
will also be used for other
refurbishment and improvements
in the Centre.
